TMV Testing: Making Sure Hot Water Stays Safe at the Tap
We tested this customer’s thermostatic mixing valve to check it was doing its job. It passed with flying colours.
Why It Matters
A Faulty TMV Can Quietly Let Dangerously Hot Water Through
Thermostatic mixing valves keep hot water at a safe temperature at the tap, protecting kids, older people and anyone else at risk of scalding.
But they can wear out over time, and a faulty one can quietly let dangerously hot water through. We tested this customer’s TMV to check it was doing its job.

What We Checked
Three Checks on Every TMV
Measured the outlet temperature
We measured the water temperature coming out of the outlet.
Tested the cold supply response
We checked that the valve responds properly if the cold supply drops.
Confirmed a safe temperature
We made sure the valve is delivering water at a safe temperature.
The Result
Passed With Flying Colours
The TMV passed, and the customer now has a record that it’s been tested and working.
- Outlet temperature measured
- Cold supply response checked
- Safe delivery temperature confirmed
- Test record provided to the customer
